Travel to the UK & Transfer Information

We will advise planning your child’s transfers to and from the college once you have received your booking confirmation. Your Student Support Manager is on hand to provide guidance on booking the most suitable flights, airport transfers and information on arrival and departure processes over the Summer. Flights should be booked on the stated arrival and departure dates; for students travelling alone, we ask parents to refer to the airline’s policy as an Unaccompanied Minor Service may be necessary.

For any flights landing at Heathrow Airport, Summer Boarding Courses offers an Airport Transfer Service to Cambridge College for an additional cost*. This will be in operation throughout the scheduled arrival and departure days and available for all flights between 6.00am and 17.00pm. For this reason, please ensure that flights are booked to arrive and depart on the published course dates. For any queries about flights scheduled outside of these times, please speak with your Student Support Manager before finalising your child’s transfers.

Students will be met by a member of our transfer team who will be waiting for them at the arrival hall entrance once they have passed through immigration and collected their luggage. Each student will be safely met by our clearly identifiable team based at London Heathrow Airport.

Our team will then accompany students from the terminal to our Welcome Club and then onto the college.

*Please note that all transfers between London Heathrow Airport and Cambridge College Summer School are an additional cost to the published course fee of £90 per journey.

Welcome Club

We provide a Welcome Club at London Heathrow Airport on each arrival day. The Welcome Club is supervised by our transfer team and is a welcoming base for students to unwind after their flight, enjoy refreshments, entertainment and meet other students before they are taken to the college. If the students haven’t already done so, the team will encourage them to contact home and check they have all their belongings before boarding the coach

Parent Transfer

If parents are accompanying their children; they may wish to bring their children directly to the college to help them settle into their new environment. If required, your Student Support Manager can also assist with independent travel to and from the college. If you are planning to deliver or collect your child, please make sure they arrive and depart on the scheduled courses dates.

Insurance

In association with Gibbs Denley Insurance Services; Summer Boarding Courses Ltd will provide all students with comprehensive travel insurance included in the price of the course, unless:

  • The parent or guardian contacts us directly to inform us that they do not wish to use the insurance provided by SBC.
  • The agent has declined to use the travel insurance offered by SBC.

Visas

Some students will require a visa to enter the United Kingdom.

  • First and foremost, please Check if you need a UK visa.
  • If you do require a visa, you will need a Short-Term Study (child) visa.
  • SBC will provide a Visa Support Letter to assist with the visa application once we have received the deposit payment (or upon receipt of full payment if booking is made after 11th May 2020).

Depending on the country; Visa applications can take around 20 working days (or 3-4 weeks), so you are advised to start the application process as soon as possible. Upon booking; you will also receive further information and guidance in your Parent Welcome Pack.

Deposit & Payment

A deposit of £700 is required within 48 hours of receiving the Booking Confirmation Email to secure your child’s place. The remaining balance must be paid by Monday 11th May 2020. Any bookings made after this date must be paid in full within 48 hours of receiving the Booking Confirmation Email.
